Who is Ryan Jenkins?

A little background

Hi. I’m Ryan Jenkins, a graphic designer » web developer » digital marketer » product manager. Schizophrenic? Maybe, but I think there’s an important connection between them all. I love to create! Creating something from nothing, be it a painting, a clay pot, a web site, a spreadsheet, or a business, is one of the most fulfilling things a person can do.

While I middle school, I received a scholarship to attend the Baum School of Art where I learned from award-winning illustrator David Gothard. David taught me to think in new ways.

When I was fifteen I discovered HTMLgoodies.com and taught myself xHTML and CSS. I became fascinated with the process of building web pages, it was pure creation in an exciting new medium. In college I worked as a web designer/developer for a little software company in Idaho called EZ-NetTools. I built well over 75 websites for their customers.

Eventually I got tired of building sites for businesses who had no idea who to do with them, so I started doing freelance online-marketing consulting. I taught small businesses how to measure their site’s performance and look for opportunities to improve it. After graduation I was got a job at Mozy Online Backup where I was the full-time digital marketing guy (email marketing, PPC, web analytics, conversion rate optimization, etc.). From there I got my MBA at BYU and then joined eBay as a Product Manager in the Structured Data team.
